Meiji Jingu Shrine is located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, in the heart of the city, occupying 70 hectares next to the Shinjuku business district and occupying the entire strip of land between Yoyogi and Harajuku Stations, making it the largest piece of green space in the center of Tokyo. Opened on 1 November 1920, the Meiji Jingu Shrine is dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji (who passed away in 1912) and Empress Dowager Shoken (who passed away in 1914). It is an important Shinto shrine in Japan.
